Albert F. Santeler

Albert F. Santeler, 86, Harvard, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Chicago to Joseph and Catherine (Lorenz) Santeler.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951.

On Jan. 12, 1952, he married Beverly A. Cartwright in Chicago.

He worked as a carpenter until retirement. He was a faithful, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was caring, hardworking and a loyal friend. His strengths were quiet, but he made an impact on the lives of others. He enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors, but above all he loved giving his time to others.

He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge, was on the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Committee and did volunteer maintenance work for St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Linda Santeler, McHenry, Anita Santeler and Albert Santeler, both of Harvard, Steven (Patricia) Santeler, Walworth, Wis., and Jeffrey (Donna) Santeler, Ocoee, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Mitchell, Carly, Allison, Tyler, Katie, Emily, Hannah and Madelynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; and six siblings, Edward (Marilyn) Santeler, Joseph (Jeanette) Santeler, Lucille (Elmer) Kruger, William (Beverly) Santeler, Robert (Janet) Santler and Thomas (Wallena) Beyer.

Visitation was Jan. 2 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was Jan. 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Harvard.

Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
