Ethel M. (Stauss) Vlchek

Ethel M. (Stauss) Vlchek, 95, Harvard, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Winchester House in Libertyville.

She was born July 25, 1919, to Arthur and Mildred (Haberly) Valiant in Chicago.

She married Walter Stauss, who preceded her in death.

On Jan. 19, 1957, she married Joseph K. Vlchek.

For many years, she was president of Action Marking Products Co., which produced rubber stamps and other marking devices. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed baking and writing poetry. She was a volunteer worker for the AWANA program at the Itasca Evangelical Free Church of which she was a long-time member. She also served on the board of directors of the Lydia Children’s Home in Chicago.

Survivors include three sons, Jack (Vimy) Stauss, Harvard, Ron (Elaine) Stauss, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Rick (Nona) Stauss, Woodstock; a daughter-in-law, Tracy (Stauss) Langeslay, Santa Barbara,

Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; her second husband Jan. 15, 2004; a son, Jim Stauss; and two brothers, Bill Valiant and Art Valiant.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
