Gerald “Jerry” Allan Perkins

05/12/1946 - 01/01/2015

Gerald “Jerry” Allan Perkins, 68, died peacefully Jan. 1, 2015, at JourneyCare Hospice Center, Woodstock, after valiantly battling pancreatic cancer for 10 months.

He was born May 12, 1946, in Harvard to Howard and Irene Perkins.

In first grade he met Phyllis Nelson.  They graduated from Harvard High School in 1964.  They were married May 22, 1965.

He grew up working with his father and his brother, Dave, on Perkins Dairy Farm, one of the largest dairies in the state at the time.

He and his wife spent a great deal of time together dancing, playing volleyball, golfing and attending any event or competition of which their sons were a part.

He had an infectious smile that lit up every room he entered. He adored his family and enjoyed golfing, attending various sporting events of his sons and grandchildren and daily coffee time with his buddies.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Aaron (Mary) and Brett (Tracy); seven grandchildren, Tyler, Gavin, Kelsey, Dylan, Abby, Kaden and Keaton; his mother; a brother, David; and a sister, Julie (Dennis) Gunderson.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister-in-law, Gaylon Perkins.

An informal celebration of his life will take place at an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Harvard Moose Lodge. The family encourages attendees to wear the attire of their favorite sports teams, particularly his favorite, the Green Bay Packers.
