Harry Jasper

Harry Jasper, 88, Harvard, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at home surrounded by his wife, children and two grandsons.  

He married June Stellema June 28,1949, in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

He worked for the Dutch border patrol before he immigrated to Harvard in 1954. He worked as a tool and die maker for 29 years at Woodstock Die Cast and loved his work. He was a union steward and retired as a supervisor in 1987. He enjoyed traveling and saw much of the world, but his biggest joy was spending time with his family. He was known as “Opa” to his grandsons and great-grandchildren who each brought him tremendous joy. He will be remembered as a kind and caring person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed playing sports when he was young and watching sports in his later years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Harvard, for 60 years and a member of the Moose for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rudy (Andrea) Jasper; a daughter, Kitty (Ken) Powers; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fred Stellema; a niece; a nephew; and many relatives in The Netherlands.

A memorial service was held Sept. 27 at the First United Methodist Church, Harvard.
