A new O’Reilly Auto Parts store is under construction in Harvard. The new building is being built at a vacant lot at 600 S. Division St. in Harvard. The store has a scheduled opening date of early spring 2015, probably mid-March.

Workers already have broken ground at the construction site. Daniel Herron, construction project administrator for O’Reilly Auto Parts, said that the weather, especially during winter, and how it will affect construction plans is hard to predict. “There could be [delays],” he said, “but we’ll try to push through it.”

The O’Reilly Auto Parts in Harvard will be 7,225 square feet, which is comparable to the other auto parts stores that O’Reilly constructs.

There will be an official grand opening about a month or so after the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts opens in mid-March, which will include promotional specials, deals and giveaways. O’Reilly stores also are located in Woodstock, Belvidere, Beloit, and North Elkhorn.

A store manager or other employees have not yet been hired or solicited for the Harvard O’Reilly store, but the store will soon be accepting applications for employment.

“The new store should have between 8-12 employees,” said Mark Merz, director of external reporting and investor relations at O’Reilly’s corporate in Springfield, Mo.

O’Reilly Auto Parts offers services, accessories and replacement parts for car batteries, air conditioning units, brakes, charging and starting, cooling and heating, exhaust, fuel and emissions, lighting and electrical, suspension and steering, tires and wheels, transmission, ignition, tune-ups, safety equipment, window wipers and other services. They also sell products including tools and work wear, air conditioning chemicals, antifreeze, battery chemicals, cleaners and other maintenance chemicals.

“It [the Harvard O’Reilly’s] will have the same great customer service, [and] parts available, that you can get at any O’Reilly store,” Merz said.
