Ron ‘Ronald F.’ Smith

Ron “Ronald F.” Smith, 66, Walworth, Wis., died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Mercy Walworth Hospital in Lake Geneva, Wis.

He was born Feb. 18, 1948, to Fredrick W. and Grace E. (McConnell) Smith in Harvard. He was a Harvard High School graduate, served in the Army in Germany during Vietnam, and then worked for 45 years at Dean’s Foods until his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, the Harvard Moose Lodge and the American Legion.  He enjoyed his summers in northwestern Wisconsin at his cabin fishing and boating. He also enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and having lunch with his retired friends. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and his dog, Sadie.

Survivors include Kathy, Walworth; a daughter, Tammy (Tim) Griffin, Walworth; two sons, Jason (Rachel) Peters, Harvard, and Aaron Peters; six grandchildren, Kirby Lavariega and Quin Griffin, Walworth, and Anna, Brennan, Gabe and Conner Peters, Harvard; a brother, Donald Smith, Harvard; and a sister, Nancy Smith, Harvard.

He was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Peters, and his parents and grandparents.

The visitation was Oct. 23 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home. The funeral was Oct. 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, with the Rev. Carol Gates officiating.

Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Harvard.
